I went and got Bioshock 2 yesterday, didn’t have a chance to play until 11pm but stayed up until 4am.
Without giving too much away, he’s a quick review of your first steps in Rapture.
You wake up as a Big Daddy 10 years after the first Bioshock was set. With not much idea of what you are doing there, you search around for a way to escape. Of course the story starts early but I don’t want to mention any of that. That would give away half the fun!
Changes in the game:
You now have a giant drill for a hand, which can be charged to attack as long as you have fuel for it.

Hacking can now be done remotely with little darts. Hacking is also in real time and doesn’t work in the same way the first Bioshock game did. Basically, if you fail and set off an alarm, then you must try to rectify it before the bots come to get you.
You can now adopt Little Sisters who sit on your shoulder and can direct you towards dead bodies with adam to be collected. You must then defend them for a set amount of time while the splicers try to kill her.
The weapons now have a 3rd upgrade, which varies depending on the weapon of choice. As an example, the rivet gun (similar in power to a hand gun) has the usual ammo capacity and damage upgrade, but the 3rd allows you to fire bullets that have a chance to set your enemies on fire. The upgrades get more elaborate for the next weapons.
I’ve only played 1 mission in the multiplayer but the menu is set out as an actual level. It’s your apartment that you wander around in, selected what you want to wear and use as weapons. Good stuff.
So yes, Bioshock 2 is a must for any fan of the series. It all looks familiar, but isn’t that what we liked about the first one? Also, one of the highlights so far has been the Journey To The Surface… You’ll know what I mean when you get there. Make sure you watch it all.
